Perl 5 Enterprise Environment (P5EE)

  • P5EE is an experimental project to promote the development, deployment, and acceptance of Enterprise Systems written in Perl.

  • Similar to the J2EE project, Java 2 Enterprise Environment.

  • P5EE is mostly a loose collection of documentation advice

  • CPAN is huge, with too many different options for common tasks.

  • Goal: standardizing CPAN modules and interfaces.

  • They have a long list of recommended perl modules:

  • Very much a work in progress

    • Apparently, they have recently shifted their focus from a single recommended code-base to describing a number of code-bases.

    • The "Blue" codebase is most fully developed.

    • Its style guide is worth investigating
